New York's unemployment rate is at 7%
According to Newsday the state of New York's unemployment rate was at 7.0% for December 2008, up 2.4 percentage points from December 2007 (See chart).
According to the report, New York City's unemployment rate was 7.2% in December and Hamilton County had the highest rate of unemployment at 10%.
